Daniel Podmirseg is an architect and researcher working at the intersection of city, energy, and food. With his book up! Contribution of Vertical Farms to Increase the Overall Energy Efficiency of Cities, he established the theoretical basis for an urban, climate-adaptive food sector. As founder and head of the vertical farm institute in Vienna, he leads interdisciplinary research on energy and material flows, building typologies, and climate-neutral urban development, resulting in a growing body of openly retrievable publications.
