Lars Greitsch studied mechanical engineering at University of Rostock and went as a research assistent to Hamburg University of Technology. Here he made his PhD in the field of ship design. In 2009 he entered MMG (Mecklenburger Metallguss GmbH) as propeller designer and built up a research team in order to improve the propeller design methods used at MMG. With this expertise MMG was able to win several comparison tests against other makers. In 2013 Lars Greitsch started the MMG redesign programme in order to improve the efficiency of existing vessels with new propellers with abt. 400 applications so far and savings of 12 million tons of CO2. In 2016 he entered the managing board of MMG.
